A Letter from the President
On the behalf of the Beta Beta Chapter of Chi Omega at Washington State University,
Chi Omega, in the words of our S.H. Shelley Potter, is the “biggest and the best”. Since our organization was founded in 1895, we have grown into the largest women’s fraternal organization with over 300,000 initiated members across the country. Next year, Chi Omega will be celebrating 125 years of Sisterhood. Beta Beta at WSU, founded in 1925, is only a few years away from its 100th anniversary.
Beta Beta strives to provide a steady, consistent guide for Sisters to create a path of purpose and success. Chi Omega inspires women to pursue their passion, in whatever way they define it. Our chapter abides by our six purposes: friendship, personal integrity, service to others, academic excellence/intellectual pursuits, community/campus involvement, and personal and career development. By embracing Chi Omega’s six purposes and placing our values at the root of our words, thoughts, and actions, we are able to truly enjoy one another as Sisters.
As President, it is my promise to serve these women loyally and help them to reach their greatest potential as an individual, a friend, a student, and as a sister. One personal goal of mine is to be open and aware of the mental health of my sisters. 1 in 5 college students battles anxiety and depression, which is something I take very seriously. A line of the Chi Omega Symphony promises that, as sisters, we hold “her welfare ever at heart”. This is a vow I made when I joined Chi Omega and I continue to value.
Our chapter is made up of diverse, compassionate, strong, and genuine women that I am proud to know and call my friends. We recruit women into our Sisterhood circle of different religions, race, and ethnic backgrounds who will contribute to the harmony in the chapter and who demonstrate our values in different forms. I am honored to be G.H. and look forward to a wonderful year ahead!
Loyally,
